How Long To Let Engine Cool Before Adding Oil

It’s typically a good idea to let your engine cool down for about 10–15 minutes before adding oil. This allows the oil to settle back into the oil pan and ensures that you won’t accidentally burn yourself on hot engine components. If the engine feels too hot to touch, it’s worth waiting a bit longer.
